Committee Chairs and Members

Ria Mulherkar
Founder & Executive Chair
I’m a radiation oncology resident in Pittsburgh, PA. I am passionate about teaching, and I started this podcast when I was a 4th year medical student at Drexel University. Growing the team and bringing Spoonful of Sugar to students around the world has been an absolute joy!

Rachel Garza
Research Committee Chair
I’m a third year at Western University in California. During preclinical years I relied on Spoonful of Sugar to help me learn on drives, while cooking, on walks, etc. This board has some exciting ideas and I’m so excited to give back to this podcast!

Tania Mulherkar
Tech Committee Chair
Hi everyone! I’m Tania Mulherkar, a 4th year medical student at Drexel University College of Medicine pursuing Anesthesiology. I love incorporating engaging educational podcasts into my day to day activities. Spoonful of Sugar is the perfect way to reiterate some content through its question-and-answer formatting. I listened to these episodes over and over again throughout all of med school. I am thrilled to give back to the podcast as a chair member!

Alicia Podwojniak
Content Committee Chair
Hi everyone, I’m Alicia Podwojniak, a third year at Rowan-Virtua SOM in New Jersey. I always try to incorporate new ways of learning into my daily routine, and when I found SoS podcast during my first year of medical school, I immediately new podcasts would be a key part of my study routine! I’m excited to be on the committee as content chair to ensure each episode is high yield and high quality for your STEP 1/COMLEX 1 studying.

Kate Spencer
Marketing Committee Chair
Kate is a 3rd-year MD student at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. She is excitedly pursuing an anesthesia career and is the face behind this Instagram page! In her limited free time, Kate likes to bother her friends and family by inundating them with photos of and stories about her golden retriever, Farrah, and rabbit, Remie. She also likes to travel, run, and she closely watches the Philadelphia Eagles and North Carolina Tarheels. Kate found that listening to Spoonful of Sugar podcasts, Divine Intervention podcasts, and Dr. Goljan’s lectures on the go helped her solidify her knowledge and quiz herself. She wishes she had tallied how many hours of med podcasts she listened to during her pre-clinical years!

Chu Chow
Content Committee Member
Hi everyone! My name is Chu Chow and I am a 3rd year at WesternU. I first discovered SoS during my first year and it was a game changer in how I supplemented my studies. From driving to class or going to the gym, I was able to incorporate a bit of review to my daily routine. I have always been big on teaching and I can not think of a better way than giving back to a podcast that has taught countless students! Excited for all the things we have in store for y’all!
Emily Gordon
Research Committee Member
I am a third year medical student at Florida Atlantic University College of Medicine with a passion for Pathology. I love running and knitting, but I enjoy them even more when I have a good audiobook or podcast.

Alicia Hou
Research Committee Member
Alicia is a 3rd-year medical student at the University of Florida. She is considering a subspecialty in Internal Medicine, loves playing classical piano and pickleball, and nurtures a love-hate relationship with cooking in her free time. She is a proud consumer of SoS podcasts, especially on long car drives and in the morning when getting ready for her day. She primarily joined the board to convince future doctors that spoonfuls of sugar are appropriate for constant consumption. Wait, what?

Bilal Rana
Content Committee Member
He plans, designs, and oversees the I’m a 3rd year at Western U (Pomona) currently interested in Psych! I’m a lifelong gamer, currently playing League of Legends, Hades, Arcaea, Dance Dance Revolution, and the occasional CS2. I help make YouTube videos for Digital Doc Games, a platform discussing the intersection of health and gaming. I also practice Muay Thai and listen to death metal as ways to help destress. Outside of that, I greatly enjoy spending time with my wife and family. We all love going out on walks, having long nighttime chats over dinner, and enjoy playing board games. Teaching has always been a big part of my journey. Without stellar teachers, tutors, and mentors, I would not have a chance at getting this far in my journey to practice medicine. Thus, it’s always been a principle of mine to pay it forward whenever possible, so I made sure to make as many episodes as possible for Spoonful of Sugar with as much important detail as one would need to know. This has now granted me the opportunity to work within the content committee, where I can help facilitate the teaching process for other students interested who are also interested in making podcasts! I’m optimistic about the team I get to work with, and am hopeful that the work we put in yields great benefits for all those who listen.
